When you can tear yourself away from the beach, there’s plenty to explore and enjoy around Beachscape. Below is just a taste of what you’ll find.
Transportation
Panama City-Bay County International Airport, which served 380,000 people last
year, will soon be joined by a new airport 10 miles northeast of Panama City
Beach. This additional airport is slated for completion in 2008.
Four airlines operate from the existing airport, offering direct flights to and from Atlanta, Cincinnati, Memphis, Tenn., and Orlando, Fla.
Shopping and Convenience
Take Scenic Highway 30-A west and discover laid-back seaside towns, like
Seagrove Beach, Grayton Beach and Blue Mountain Beach, filled with shops,
boutiques and art galleries. A short drive along Highway 98 takes you to Silver
Sands Outlet Mall, the largest designer outlet mall in the South.
Just four miles from Beachscape is a new shopping center with two grocery stores, a seafood restaurant and various shops.
Culture and Entertainment
Panama City Beach was recently honored by inclusion in 100 Best Small Art Towns in America.
Visual Arts Center of Northwest Florida hosts art classes for adults and hands-on activities for children. Tours, gallery talks, and summer youth programs are also available. Free, closed Sundays.
Originally “The Ritz,” the Martin Theatre’s rich history was revived in the late 1980s and is now a state-of-the-art facility, hosting musicals and plays.
For the kids …
The Junior Museum of Bay County - indoor science and adventure exhibits to nature walks and pioneer homestead, this museum is a great experience for families. The mission of the Junior Museum of Bay County is to inspire and educate through interactive exhibits and programs, focusing on science, history, cultural studies and the environment.
Bay County Fairgrounds - with a total area of 21 acres, the fairgrounds host several shows each year. From jewelry to antiques, there’s likely to be something that tickles your fancy here.
Fives Arcade - a 10,000 square-foot, family-oriented arcade that has more than 100 games and is ideal for birthday parties and fundraisers.
Golf and Recreation
Several state parks are within a two-hour drive of Beachscape. You can take in
Florida’s natural beauty at any of the following:
Grayton State Recreation Area - A boat ramp provides access to Western Lake's freshwater and saltwater fishing. And, a nature trail winds through a coastal forest, where scrub oaks and magnolias have been bent by salt winds. Hikers and bicyclists can enjoy more than four miles of trails through pine woods. It’s only 23 miles from Beachscape.
St. Andrews State Park - Just 15 miles from Beachscape is this state park with more than one-and-one-half miles of pristine beaches on the Gulf of Mexico and Grand Lagoon. Swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking and canoeing are all available here. Two fishing piers, a jetty and a boat ramp provide ample fishing opportunities, and two nature trails are perfect for birdwatchers. Full-facility campsites make this park a popular overnight destination.
Falling Waters State Park - With a 73-foot drop, Falling Waters is home to Florida’s tallest waterfall. Underneath is a 100-foot deep, 20-foot wide basin known as Falling Waters Sink. Beautiful native and migrating butterflies abound, and park rangers host interpretive programs in an amphitheater. Full-facility campsites accommodate overnight stays.
Florida Caverns State Park - The only Florida state park to offer cave tours to the public is only 75 miles from Beachscape. This is a popular place for camping, swimming, fishing, picnicking, canoeing, boating, hiking, bicycling and horseback riding.
St. Joseph Peninsula - One of the top-rated beaches in the United States is only an hour and a half from Panama City Beach. The coastal barrier peninsula straddles the Gulf and St. Joseph Bay and is known for birdwatching. More than 240 species have been seen here. Sunbathing, snorkeling and swimming are popular activities.
Shell Island - This undeveloped island is situated between the Gulf and St. Andrew Bay. Its two claims to fame are that it is home to one of world’s highest concentrations of bottle-nosed dolphins, and a well-known surf spot. A ferry service is available from St. Andrew State Park.
There’s no shortage of pleasure for the golfing enthusiast. Headlining the list of golf spots is a new course designed by Jack Nicklaus, just minutes from Beachscape.
Signal Hill - Play 18 holes on Panama City Beach’s oldest golf course. Tee times are preferred.
Hombre Golf Club - This semi-private Panama City Beach course is host to the PGA TOUR Qualifying School. Its three sets of nine holes have been nicknamed “The Good,” “The Bad,” and “The Ugly.”
Bay Point Lagoon Legend - A semi-private course with more than 100 sand traps and water on 15 holes. It’s one of the most difficult in northwest Florida.
Holiday Golf Club - The semi-private club recently added a lighted 9-hole, par-3 course to complement its par-72 championship course. Tee times are required for all play.
Bay Point Meadows - An abundance of par-4 holes with big greens make this semi-private course a challenge for beginners. Bring your “A-game” and make sure to schedule a tee time.

Panama City Beach is home to Healthpark/Seawind Medical Clinic and East
Counseling Services, Inc. Bay Medical Center, Gulf Coast Medical Center and a
